Well I was contacted back by, Jan a case manager from the Chysler Corporation, and she said after her investigation on the matter that chrysler would not be able to help me in the matter. So I guess I am out $800 for something that should have been covered under a proper recall.

A locksmith recently told me that Chrysler has had severe problems with these keys and ignitions but failed to handle in properly.

I know I am upset I have purchased Chrysler new for years, and now I am poised to get rid of this van and never own another chrysler brand product ever again. I urge as many people who are considering buying a chrysler product to look at my complaint and many others like mine and reconsider, because there is no real service or commitment outside of warranty.

My wifes 2008 Chrysler Town and Country Van has a serious safety issue involved with the ignition About a week ago the vehicle would power off (key would switch off on its own) while in motion, this caused her to run off the road while turning causing damage to the van, then it did it again while she was backing up a few days later causing damage to the rear gate, since then now the key wont even work, so we had it towed for $100 bucks to the closest Chrysler Dealer. They said the Module needs replaced and I need 2 new keys made for it, costing about $800.

These ignitions are problematic. Chrysler has recalled 2009 models and newer with ignitions like mine, for the same exact problem. but my vehicle isnt covered under the recall, so at this point I have to fork out the Money myself, to become safe again and get the vehicle in running order. I filed a concern with the NHTSB, and I filed a concern with Chrysler, so now I will see how well Chrysler handles a valued customer for years.

Will they step up to the plate and take care of me, and keep me a loyal customer or not?

We will have to wait and see. I will post thier actions as they become known.

Monetary Loss: $3500.

Location: Ocala, Florida

I have a 2008 Chrysler town and country. I received a recall notice about the ignition switch issue back in Oct of 2014.

I was told the chrysler dealer that the part would b in, in 4-6 weeks. After 12 weeks, I called to check the status and the part came in and then it was recalled due to it be defective. This is is bull@$#$. I just called today 4/15/15 and the part is it not available yet and that I will be getting a notice when it becomes available.

I consistently have problems starting my vehicle where it will be running and then turns to the off position. It has been going on for too long....what happens if it turns off while I am driving!

So frustrated! This is our 2nd Chrysler/Dodge vehicle and we have nothing but, electrical issues with both vehicles!

My ignition isn't as severe as those mentioned. However, on occasion, I will have to restart it to get all the accessories to turn on.

Yes, they have replaced the fob, I have changed the fob battery, and removed all the other keys, so there is no weight. In addition, it was suggested removing all the upc's that we all attached from various stores, as this also has an adverse effect on the electronic signal which actuates this system.

My wife also has a 2008 Town & country and write now as we speak I am going threw absoulute *** with this. She claims it randomly shuts off , while dashboard lights are going crazy, stearing wheel locks up, and when she took the key out the heater stayed on, AND it does different random *** ALMOST every time it happens.

But when I go to get it scanned, which cost $100 dollars at the dealer, nothing comes up.

And *** it im a hard working foundry worker that works long 10 hour days 6 days a week, very under payed. So one person says its the ignition switch, one says TIPM, on says the computer, NO ELSE WILL HELP ME TILL SOMETHING BREAKS ON THIS PEACE OF fine art.

I have a 2008 Town and Country limited purchased new. I had the same problem.

Two things you have to remember. you have to replace the battery in the remote at least once or twice a year depending how much you use it. My vehicle was shutting down while I was driving. What it turned out was that the remote was attached to my key chain.

The weight of the keys especially when I hit a bump the engine would stop the outside light would go dark and the dash board lights would come on. I would put the car in Neutral and the car would start up with no problem.

Also I notice if the if the remote is loose in the ignition you will have to replace the remote. My vehicle has over 188,000 miles and all major service is done with a chrysler dealer ship in my area.

I recieved a phone call from Chrysler today and it appears that they are going to do the right thing and reimburse me to have my ignition repaired and my new keys replaced. I was told my business was important.

With that said I am satisfied with the outcome. A good company will stand behind their products and take care of their customers, Chysler has committed to take care of me.
