Purchased Chrysler Pacifica in 2007 because of lifetime warranty on drive train. Even spent $1800 on an extended warranty (something we never usually do) because we planned to keep the car a long time (great driving, good for wife).

In 2011, had to replace motor mounts (not a big deal and interestingly nt covered under either warranty). No other problems until a week ago when the transmission died a horrible death. Chrysler will not honor warranty because the car was not inspected in 2012.

Called original dealer and they say inspection was not a stipulation in 2007 when car was purchased. Chrysler should have contacted us, which they never did.

Seems like a opportunity for a possible class action lawsuit. Our 2008 town and country transmission died in Oct.

2017. The vehicle was always Dealer serviced because we were mindful of the lifetime warranty. The Dealer was always timely in reminding us for all kinds of different service needs of the vehicle EXCEPT for the 5-year service requirement to keep the drive-train warranty. Interestingly the vehicle was in for transmission repair two months after inspection period in 2013 and covered the repair under warranty, but nothing was mentioned about the service requirement to keep our warranty.

We ended up paying $3800 to have our transmission replaced in 2017 after calling and writing letters to have the warranty reinstated.

There was an obvious and intentional silence when it came to the warranty inspection needs of the vehicle. Seems like a opportunity for a possible class action lawsuit to me.

I purchased a 2008 Jeep and paid $ 2400.00 plus for the Life time max ( scam ) policy also and according to Chrysler i missed the 10 year inspection so they canceled my policy. I call customer service anytime i get a chance just to discuss how unpleased i am with there scam policy and how they suckered me into buying. Lifetime my *** I had have this vehicle numerous times for oil changes and other items and have asked if there's any updates or other needed but they didn't record them so I'm out $ 2400.00 If there's a class action suit Please count me in

Same issue here. I actually did the inspection on my 2009 T&C within the 5 years that I purchased it.

Don't remember it at all being free BTW, I think they called it a 'something' service. Did not however, do the second one which apparently was due prior to Feb. of 2019. Who the *** could remember to do that without any reminder from the dealer (which I do not trust at all anyway).

Now, my car had been diagnosed with a head gasket replacement ($1,800) and they told me they will not cover it even though my MaxCare warranty (which I paid for when I bought the car) paid for the replacement of the water pump and damaged anti-freeze hose. Which - I am told caused the head gasket to need replacing. (Had to have the car towed, the dealer waited more than 10 days before even looking at it, told me I had to replace the water pump, etc. I was covered for that and they (expecting to finally pickup my car which was there for almost two weeks), they told me it needed a head gasket replacement - which was not covered.

So, I opened a call with Customer Service - which is what the dealer told me to do, and they closed the request for assistance the same day because my car was too old and had too many miles. I called back saying I never had a chance to explain the situation and they told me that there was nothing more they could do and I could write a letter to Chrysler (they only would give me their mailing address). I found an email address online and I sent them my note and appeal on 12/16 in the am. It is 12/17 in the pm and I called to follow-up on the email and they said that it has not been assigned to a case manager yet.

I will wait it out another day before I call again.

Hopefully, I will get a response. Happy to follow-up here.

Sorry to here about your trouble with Chrysler. I too have a similar problem.

I missed the 60 day inspection window at the ten year anniversary by 60 days. I donโ€™t currently have car trouble and my Truck passed the inspection, however Chrysler will not re-instate the lifetime powertrain warranty.

I plan to get magnetic signs and plaster them on my dodge trucks (I have two a 2009 and a 2017) and park them in front of Dodge dealerships... other than being included in the class action lawsuit which Chrysler is trying to hind behind bankruptcy provisions, we do not have much other recourse

I never received any cards for the 5 year inspection at all, nor was I notified by the dealership.

Bought Chrysler Aspen in 2008, for the powertrain warranty. They also told me , my warranty was voided because I did not get inspected in 2018.

Grr..

Called Chrysler, awaiting a supervisor to call back. I hope the class action will be a positive for us all!

Just today I found out my 08 Ram is no longer covered by the lifetime power train warranty.. Every 5 years Dodge sent me a card in the mail telling me my 5 year inspection was due, come to find out it was due in December 2018 and they never sent anything..

This is September 2019 and its not even been 9 months since my inspection was due but Dodge won't do anything about it.. Even the lady I spoke with from Dodges warranty department said that Dodge could reinstate my warranty, but they won't do it..

I've purchased and owned Dodges for 20 years, but not after this.. I think it is their way of getting out of the warranty.

I own a 2009 Town and Country with the Lifetime Powertrain Warranty. I have all my records of maintaining the vehicle, including my 6 page contract between Chrysler and me.

I did get a letter in 2013, since we got the van in 2008 for this five year inspection that took 12 minutes. It passed, great. Time goes on, I never got a letter for the next inspection, as I had a oil leak this week fixed, it was a gasket, 330.00. I was told my Powertrain warranty was no longer in effect.

What? I called Chrysler and I got a story that the first letter for the first inspection was a courtesy and I was on my own for the next inspection with no letter coming. Really? Who is going to remember that?

No one told me that when I had the first inspection nor did the letter, that I no longer have say anything like that. Let's see, Chrysler does say in the contract they do have the right to inspect my maintenance records, so do I have the right to inspect letters they mailed to me then? I never heard of a business not mailing out automated letters for products you own to be service, etc. What we all know, is, that Fiat that purchased Chyrsler is having financial issues, and they changed the way in handling inspection notices, in not notifying the customer anymore, so hopefully they will forget to do the inspection so they can void the contract, since this Powertrain warranty has cost Chrysler a lot of money which is not my problem.

They sold me this warranty. And again, no where in the contract on paper, is it written about these five year inspection.

They sent me a card every 5 years telling me my inspection was due, that is until last year.. December 2018 is when they are saying it was due and its September 2019 now, barely 9 months and I didn't get a card..

But they can sure send something or call if an airbag is being recalled..

Just their way of getting out of this warranty.. After over 20 years of owning a Dodge, this will be my last one.

There is a class action lawsuit against Chrysler regarding their lifetime power train warranty and their scam inspection. Hopefully, the plaintiffs will win and all previous expenses will be reimbursed.

I've just been informed that my lifetime Maximum Care warranty won't cover the power train due to having the lifetime power train warranty on my 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. Of course that warranty is void due to my not being notified to get an inspection.

So now, if anything goes wrong with the power train, I have to pay out of pocket. Talk about a giant scam.

According to chryslerwarrantys.com, Chrysler offers a Lifetime warranty with unlimited mileage. Mopar Vehicle Protection plans with lifetime coverage are offered in three coverage levels: Powertrain Care, Added Care and Maximum Care.

Lifetime Maximum Care Plans offer mechanical coverage as specified to the named original purchaser of the contract, for the lifetime of that purchaser. The plan ends upon the death of that original contract purchaser or upon the transfer or sale of the vehicle. The plan ends even if the transfer occurs by operation of law, such as to a lienholder, family member through succession, or successor business. To obtain service under a Mopar Lifetime Plan, the vehicle owner should request service from any authorized FCA US LLC franchise dealer of the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram or Fiat vehicle lines within the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico or Mexico.

It is important to note that service obtained from a repair shop other than an authorized FCA dealer is not reimbursable.

It is important to realize that, should a covered component of the vehicle fails, the maximum benefit amount will be the total cost of the repairs per visit less the deductible, or the cash value of the vehicle, whichever is less. If you currently covered by a Mopar/Chrysler contract and have questions about claims or coverage, please call 800-521-9922 for assistance.

Same situation guys, my jeep has been serviced and maintained by the dealership and I was just denied the warranty because they did not do the five year inspection . I was never made aware of the inspection yet they say it's the costomers responsibility.

What a poor business practice. They just lost a loyal jeep costumer.

Me too

I had transmission work done four months after I missed the 5yr free service date and unbelievably Chrysler covered the repair on my 2008 T & C at that time. What's interesting is that I had received a notice about three months after I missed the 5yr service that said I had lost my Lifetime Power Train Warranty due to the missed service.

I had called the dealership that same day and was told not to worry as I had purchased the Maximum Care Lifetime Warranty and it covered the power train.

I never gave it another thought until 4 years later when blown tranny was denied coverage by either warranty. BTW I had every service done at the dealership and the required 5 year free service is the only service the dealership has failed to mention.

Having difficulty with my lifetime warranty on a 2007 Jeep liberty with transmission and drive line issues. Have actually had all inspections on vehicle every 5 years as required.

Dealership continues to give me the run around-initially saying car was not under warranty, then after persistence on my part indicated they would honor warranty. Jeep has now been in shop for a week- dealer is saying parts are no longer available may not be able to honor warranty- Need help with options at this point- Chrylser does not want to honor this warranty.

See the problem. You take it in for inspection when there is nothing wrong.

And when they are done you have a problem that there shop will get paid. Like generating there own work.

They will put problems in your vehicle or tell you there is a problem and there is not any. I do not trust a inspection.

Thus also happened to us on lifetime warranty Chrysler said it was voided do to 5 year inspection. Thing is it's not in the warranty paperwork at all 2009 jeep patriot.

Guest

Your original dealer is wrong. In 2007 and 2008 Chrysler offered up a free limited lifetime power train warranty for the original owner.

To keep the warranty from being voided you have to the vehicle inspected (for free) at any Chrysler dealership every 5 years within a 2 month window from the purchase date. Your selling dealer should have told you about that at the time of sale as well as giving you paperwork with that info.

You are oversimplifying this. They will blatantly tell you there will be charges you "may be responsible for".

I went to have mine looked at last week by appointment. They told me they could not even get to it before Wednesday this week.

Guest

Took my care in because transmission was slipping then was informed the warranty had been cancelled because it missed the PT inspection. It seems Chrysler can only notify us of inspections when they are making money on them!

They COULD set up a notice to let people know about their hidden inspection--but that would be the responsible thing to do.

Time for. class action lawsuit agains the thieving company!
