Chrysler - Dealership Ripoff
My Son was Referred by a friend to talk to Salesman Matt at Westborn Chrysler Dealership, because he wanted to end his Lease early of his 2016 Charger Scat Pack (with several payments remaining) and Lease a 2018 Challenger Hellcat. In May 2018, my Son met with Matt and Matt said, he had to contact my Son Finance Company which was Ally, to verify the balance owing on the 2016 Charger before they could Negotiate a deal. After Matt verified the information and ran my Son Credit, he told my Son that he would be able to get the Hellcat and they (Dealership) would Payoff the Charger, however, my Son would need a down payment of $1000 and a Refundable $1000 to put the Hellcat in Production, which will take 6-8 weeks to be made. Matt told my Son that the best he could do and the lowest he could get the payments for the 2018 Hellcat will be $750 month. My Son used his Credit Card to pay the $2000.
On June 20, 2018, my Son and I went to pick up the Challenger. We seen Matt and he told us they are behind because of New Girls in the Office doing the paperwork. After a Couple of Hours, Matt told us we will be meeting with Jeff Reckly the Finance Manager and donโt forget that the 1st Oil Change is on them.
We met with Jeff and he presented a Totally different payment than what was already negotiated with Matt and my Son. I explained to Jeff that my Son wouldnโt be able to afford the Increase payment about $40 more a month. Jeff said, he had several people on stand by waiting to buy the Hellcat for $10,000 more over asking price. I told Jeff, Iโm sure heโs right, however, that wasnโt the payments that was discussed. I told Jeff, when I just spoke to Matt today, he said, the payments would be $750 and theyโre taking care of the Charger.
Jeff said, he couldnโt do it and was prepared to refund my Son $2000. My Son said, I canโt pay the increase. I told Jeff, Sorry, he will not be able to get the Car. Jeff said Okay and left the Office. Jeff came back and said, he will be able to give my Son the Hellcat for $750 a month, however, my Son wouldnโt be able to have the Refundable $1000. My Son was upset but agreed. My Son Signed the Paperwork and we left.
1 1/2 weeks later, we received an Invoice from Ally. The Invoice said, my Son owe a balance of $2700. We contacted Ally and a Representative name Ceola, informed us that, my Son turned in the Charger early at the Dealership, as if he just left it there. I explained to Ceola, that my Son did an Early Lease Termination and Purchased another Vehicle from Westborn Chrysler Dealership Ceola said, that Westborn Chrysler didnโt payoff the Charger.
For 3 weeks, I left Voicemail messages for Jeff Reckly and he never responded. During the times I was contacting Jeff, my Son was in contact with Matt via Matt Cellphone and Matt was reassuring him that Jeff was going to contact him. Matt ask my Son to text over a Copy of the Bill. Matt text back after receiving the Bill and said, heโs waiting on Ally, it might just need to be paid, but heโs waiting. My Son told his friend that referred him to that Dealership and he told my Son that they did the same thing to him, but once he provided the Bill they paid it. So my Son trust what Matt was saying.
On July 25, 2018, Because my Husband name was on the Charger also, my Husband asked me to call Jeff again, and this time I called Anonymous and he Answered. Jeff said, heโs not paying for the Charger and that Matt didnโt promise my Son nothing. We argued back and Forth. I called Matt and he repeated what Jeff had said.
On July 26, my Husband, Son and I went to the Dealership. My Son was suppose to be getting his 1st Free Oil Change. I requested to speak to Matt and Jeff. After awhile Jeff came out of his Office and said, heโll speak to us. I asked Jeff to put in writing the reason why he wasnโt going to payoff my Son Charger, he said, Iโm not doing that. Jeff tried to justify not paying off my Son Car. Jeff kept contradicting himself, after every question I asked. He 1st said, he didnโt know anything about the Deal, he just do the paperwork. 2nd, he said, my Son must told Matt he only owes $795, even though admitting that Matt called the Dealership. 3rd, he said, He didnโt know if Matt called Ally. I asked Jeff to bring Matt into the Office to straighten things out and he said, No! Matt doesnโt have to explain anything.
Jeff asked me to contact Ally to get a break down of what is owed. I left Jeff Office, came back with Representative JD on the phone. After a lengthy conversation, Jeff said, he understood and would talk to the Owner to find out what could be done.
Matt didnโt Honor my Son Free Oil Change, so Jeff said, he would and gave my Son his Card with Free Oil Change on it, however, we left without getting one.
